Walking around the South Head you can observe the resident dolphins in the entrance to the bay and in winter you can sometimes get a wave from a passing whale.

There are some good surf breaks close by for those interested in surfing.

The bay is safe for swimming and boating and generally fishing (from either a boat or the jetty) is good all year round.

If you have a larger boat and the skills to go outside the bay you can be rewarded with good catches of Snapper, Shark, Nanniguy, Morwong, Tuna and Southern Rock Lobster.
